Divunity
A downloadable Divunity for Windows
Divunity is the first cooperative VR god game.
Become a god and work along your divine partner in order to make your people coexist despite their violent temper.
Keywords : cooperation, god game, gestion, toy.
Controls
You can switch tools by using your multi-tool.
- Use the pliers to grab stuff
- Hit with your hammer to destroy buildings and resources
You can use the cosmic machine to craft buildings. To do that, put a good combination of resources in the funnel and operate the lever.
Influence zone and requests
The influence zone is the level of cohabitation of your people. You can't collect resources and build outside of the influence zone.
You will expand your influence zone by responding to requests. When your influence zones intersect, it creates a common influence zone.
Buildings and resources
In Divunity, you will find :
- Wood, in trees, you can use any type of wood when crafting
- Ore, some crafts will require that you use the ore of your partner
Please note that Divunity was primarily designed as an interactive installation. It is possible to play it on your own but you may encounter bugs or performance issues that makes the experience unplayable. Divunity was not designed to be played over the internet, but it may work using the workarounds below.
If you have the means and would like to try Divunity with a friend, the best setup is to have two computers and two headsets on the same local network.
Requirements
To play Divunity, you will need :
- Two different computers running Windows 10, with Steam and SteamVR installed
- An internet connection if you want to play remotely
- A VPN software such as LogMeIn Hamachi if you want to play remotely (optional)
- Two VR Headset (HTC Vive)
Although Divunity has been designed for the HTC Vive, you might be able to make it work with other headsets compatible with SteamVR. You may have to rebind keys to your specific controllers using SteamVR binding interface.
Blue/Red Builds
By default, the blue build is the host, and the red build is the client. You can also use the same build for both computers and press H on your keyboard to host and C to connect, instead of using the in-game menus.
Play over a local network
If your computers are connected to the same local network, get their IP address.
On Windows :
- Press Windows+R and type "cmd" then Enter.
- Type
ipconfig /all
and hit enter. - Find your network adapter in the list and copy the IPv4 address.
Note : If they are connected to the same network, both computers' IP addresses should only differ by their last digits.
Then, proceed to the "Start the game" section
Play remotely
If you want to play with someone remotely, you will have to do some network fiddling.
The first option is to use a VPN client such as ZeroTier, FreeLAN or LogMeIn Hamachi.
Each software is different, but basically you have to create a network, both players connect to it. You can then copy other player's IPv4 and use it to connect to them.
The second option is to configure port forwarding on your local router. Please refer to your ISPs instructions to do so. You have to redirect both UDP and TCP to port 15937 on your local computer
Start the game
On the client computer, go to the game directory, then Divunity_Data/SharedAssets and open network.config with a text editor. Replace the existing IP with the Host IP. Once it's done, you may launch both games, the host player can start the game, and then the client player can join the game.
Testing the game alone
Although the game isn't meant to be played alone and cannot be completed, you can still grab the blue build and start the game to try it out.
